CHARLESTON DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL

Saturday, May 8, 2010 - Brittlebank Park

The 3rd Annual Charleston Dragon Boat Festival is a fun day for corporate and community teams to picnic and paddle together on the Ashley River in 41 foot dragon boats.

What is dragon boat racing?

It is a full day of fun on the water with friends, family and co-workers - paddling together in 250m races. The goal is for paddlers to move in unison, combining strength with teamwork in a boat whose elaborate design originates in ancient China. Dragon boats are the world's largest flat water racing canoes, propelled by a crew of 20 plus a drummer and a steersperson, provided by the Festival. Teamwork is everything in dragon boat racing. Synchronicity is more important than strength.

No experience necessary, we will provide your training!

Registration includes all equipment, 2 practices and a 10x10 team tent.
Register your team by April 1st to guarantee a waterfront team tent location!

All team members are expected to raise $50.00 per person to support the 2010 Festival beneficiaries:

SIGN UP FOR PRE-FESTIVAL TRAINING

Each team is offered 2 practice sessions the week of May 3 - May 6 It is recommended that your team practice schedule be either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. You must preregister for your practice session. Sessions will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis.

A limited numbers of slots are available for each session.
